Content Inspection Software
Content Inspection Software usually runs on a dedicated server, and examines all message traffic to determine if a particular type of message data should be modified or blocked. Virus Scanners identify and handle only popular forms of malicious software. Content Inspectors can recognize not only viruses, but also a much larger set of malicious software yet to be classified by Virus Scanner manufacturers. Virus Scanners are a good line of defense against known computer viruses, but Content Inspection Software is a critical defense against computer criminals.
Whenever a message is blocked or altered by a Content Inspector, the Content Inspection server can send a notification to the intended recipient indicating the actions taken.
SecurityAppraisers® has always employed preemptive security measures, making full use of Content Inspectors. While other security approaches are reactive, SecurityAppraisers® solutions prevent attacks before they happen by disallowing delivery of all executable content from unverified or unknown recipients.
SecurityAppraisers® installs and maintains the following Content Inspectors:
Xamime, from PLD Software. Xamime offers: |
A precise granularity of control over what content can be delivered in a mail message-not merely by "file type", but by what an attachment contains.
The ability to screen out undesirable portions of an attachment, as defined per company policy, and deliver the remainder to its recipient for review (examples: remove scripts from an HTML document; remove links from an Office document, etc.).
A platform for incorporating custom content analysis routines.
